Why didn't you just pay the excavator?!
Because you have hands.
You knew it was worth it to take some time out of your day, save a little cash, and get to work. I'm not talking about a Saturday catching up on paperwork, or getting your taxes ready so you'll be ready when April rolls around. The kind of work I'm referring to is physical. Blistered hands, cramped backs, burned skin, throbbing feet, and blown out knees feel great! For those of you who cant plant a tree don't worry, we've got work for ya.
The satisfaction in seeing the results of your labor is great. Did you know you can get that same satisfaction for free. ZERO dollars! I know you don't believe me, but there are these places that charge you nothing to feel great, and see the satisfaction in the work you've done. Places that when you go home, you immediately find your favorite chair and collapse. With a smile on your face, and a little dirt on your hands. Where are these places?!
- A homeless shelter
- The Humane Society
- A Church
- Your next door neighbor
- Your friends house
- A park
- A parking lot
Go take the two hands God gave you and let your heart do the moving. Take your shovel, and go next door to the old ladies house. Help her pull the old shrub out of her backyard. Don't you dare take the lemonade she offers you! Go to a homeless shelter and chop up some potatoes. If you cut yourself, at least you can feel the pain. When you drive home and you see someone whose pulled over and in need of help, pull over. Best case scenario, you get on your hands and knees, and change a tire. If you smoke, don't ask for one.
There are so many people out there who will never read this (obviously cause they don't care what I have to say), because they've never used the Internet. Never had a house. Never knew their family. Never knew what love was.
Never had hands.
If you want to heal your own depression and issues, cause your life is sooooo hard... Go help someone else. The greatest feeling in the world is free. In this current economy, go save some money and heal your heart. This is no solution to change the world, nor is it going to give other people hope. But instead of the 8 hours you spent digging that hole, you can spend them planting seeds.
